A unique tour of Bali
Arrival in the morning at the Lodge, welcome drink and welcome by our Manager. A walk in the gardens or a swim before lunch are suggested. After lunch after a short siesta you will proceed for an afternoon visit to the Uluwatu Temple, one of the six main temples of Bali. Wearing a Sarong, you will start to walk up the cliff with stunning views around. In the temple yard you will see some Macaque monkeys but be careful with the things you wear especially (eyeglasses, earrings, aids, etc) as they are quite wild and will take anything of you; it is best to wear no glasses, watch or ear rings. At 1800 the Balinese Kecak dance from the Ramayana epic is held. This tells an eternal love tale between Rama and Shinta and hopefully there will be a beautiful sunset background. It is really an unforgettable experience. After the dance you return to the lodge for dinner.
VOLCANOES and UBUD After breakfast, at 0800 proceed direct to the stunning crater containing Mount Batur at Kintamani through Batubulan, Celuk, Mas, Gianyar to Bangli Regency. Arrive at the crater and enjoy a lunch on the edge of the crater where Mt Batur is found. If you are lucky you will sight Mt Agung, the main mountain of Bali and spiritual home of the Balinese People. Then you proceed down through Tampak Siring Temple famous for its holy springs and then on to Ubud, where you can either visit the famous Neka Art Museum or go shopping. Ubud is a great place to purchase goods of all sorts. Ubud is generally considered the centre of Balinese art and culture. In Ubud, you can have afternoon tea and then go back to the Lodge for dinner.
SETTLING PONDS and BUTTERFLY PARK This is a long day and commences early at 0600 after a cup of tea or coffee but before breakfast you will pay a short visit to The Nusa Dua Settling Ponds, only a short drive from the Lodge and are known for a variety of water birds. They are best visited very early in the morning or late in the evening. Your bird guide will either be Mrs Nyoman Martini or Mrs Kadek Purnaningish, both staff members of the Lodge and registered guides for Ecolodges Indonesia. At least 20 – 25 species of birds (including Egrets, Herons, Kingfishers, Ducks and Water Hens) will be seen. Walk around and enjoy for an hour and drive back to the Lodge for a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, you will travel to Tabanan for a visit to the Butterfly Park arriving at around 1100. This Park shows many species of Indonesian Butterflies and is a beautiful peaceful place. Many of the species in Meryl Wilson’s book “101 Butterflies of Lowland Indonesia” are seen here. Lunch will be at a restaurant overlooking spectacular rice fields, then you will visit a temples the small but beautiful Jatiluwih Temple near the Park Return to the Lodge or if leaving direct to the airport.
Cost per person including twin share room, welcome drink, access to the swimming pool, all meals for three days (except lunch at Ubud), Uluwatu and Kintamani Tours and transport to the airport.
